J. SERIES: DISCERNING DOUBT
SESSION 2
THOMAS THE DOUBTER.
JOHN 20.24-29
It has been said that doubt should be a cactus, not a couch. It should spur us towards answers—spur us towards God.
Doubt.
It is a curious word.
Especially in a realm of conviction and belief—in the area of faith. How do we understand it? Doubt can carry all sorts of connotation. When we think on the theme, most perhaps think immediately of Thomas the disciple in the New Testament. He is labeled ‘the doubter,’ which is not a term of endearment. It is really a criticism, a condescending sneer at his lack of conviction and character.
So what does it mean to doubt? What do we do with our uncertainties? What do we do with our questions?
Better yet, what does GOD do with them?
Tonight, we gather with Thomas and (best yet) we gather with Jesus! We lean in with the disciples to see just how the LORD answers His doubting disciple. So gather your thoughts, and your questions and your stumbling blocks and your walls and bring them on tonight! The gracious God of heaven invites them all! He invites you to come. Touch. See. BELIEVE!
I love your hearts!
