The BIG Picture: Session 8
6:00-9:00P
Galatians 2.15-21

You may not even realize it.  But you constantly do it.
Like, every. single. day.

You are constantly evaluating your potential.
When you step into homeroom at 8:15A.  When you step into the lunchroom at 12:10P.  When you step into the locker room at 3:25P.  You are always evaluating your ability to rise to the demands of the moment.  You are always examining your ability to excel in the day-by-day challenges (the heat) that life brings your way.

But what’s your measure?
What is the ruler that you use to gauge that potential?

The temptation is to look to the past.  The stats.  Your track record, right?  Your last Algebra II grade.  The first time you took the SAT.  Your current PR, RBI or GPA.  The temptation is to simply glance backwards to past experiences or conditions.  The temptation is to use temporary performances, and worldly identities to measure our ability for today.

Who we think we are drives who we think we can become.

But GOD gives us something entirely different.
God gives us a new measure that isn’t dependent upon on the flux of our daily performance.  God’s measure is consistent, reliable and true.  It is a new potential that comes by a new identity.  It is a new forward-only-perspective, and a new capacity for living that comes by Jesus.  Paul writes to Galatia that his track record and worldly identity are crucified with Christ!  He pens that he now lives through Jesus that is alive in him!
